OMG generation gap hitting home
hehe.. I am 44 with mental age varying between 7-70 depending on time of day, amount of tea/coffee drunk and hours worked..
I think thats a yes from the forum.
lol - so true
Must be a generation thing, because I havn't got a clue what either of you are going on about
Nor me mate and I am old... fact!
Then there's no hope for any of us!
Oh well, might as well sodd off to Germany then
Preperations for the Ring trip are under way, at each end of the country!
Down in the Southwest, Frenchman very kindly picked up one of my sets of tyres, and to use them this weekend he has mounted them onto his own track wheels which he's letting me run for the trip Thanks very much sir!
Yoko A048R's in a medium compound, with lots of tread
I'm all set with a new Satnav App on my phone, already programmed and ready to go:
and I've got supplies for the long Drive!
Anything else I can add to my check list?
Just need to swap a rad hose out on Sunday, and load up, and we're set to go!
Don't forget 'paper bag and some drugs' mate lol
Be safe dude!
Dad's going to love that! Not sure mum will though....
I.ll bring the bag.
It's the gift that just keeps on giving guys. lol
OI! You can't talk about my Mum like that!
Have fun mate, wish I was in convoy with you
Not long to go mate! Be good to see the parents too.
Energy drink fueled Ring trips rock.
I'll do my best to shoot as much as I can over the mini trip for everyone. Can't wait to get back out there. Such a magical place Fingers crossed for sunshine! I'm starting to forget what it looks like
See you in a few days Bigal
If only we still had the Westy Doll!
Last seen being loaded into that silver ****roen
That'd be awesome man, as well know my iphone pictures are rubbish!
Got harrys Lap Timer updated now, can't wait to try out all the new features it does
I'm really interested to see how Harry's lap timer work now mate. You may remember it was really flakey on my 3GS and didn't know whether to stop or start at bridge and gantry. I now have an iPhone 4 though
Anyway what time you setting off?
Where's the beer? I just see energy drink for the mrs
Beer is in the bars in Germany waiting for me
Westy: HLT never worked on the 3GS at all, and the makers said this, the GPS just isn't anywhere accurate enough. on the iphone 4 it's been checked against a race logic V-box and gives lap times within 0.1s of the Vbox on a clear day.
The latest update of harrys lets you add trace data to the overlay as well, with Vmax and Vmin on the corners and staights flashing up top left, as well as corner names when they're pre programmed in on the track set you down load it's also much smoother and doesn't crash any more Can't wait to give it a try!
Prawn got there first, you don't need to take beer when you go to Germany. There are plenty of awesome brews of fall over water!
Get on the Bitburger lads
I can't wait to see some HLT laps then prawny.
It's all about the Weissbier man!
Bitte Ein Bit!
Time for bed! 1:30am set off. Cannot wait! Just got to try and look as cool as Frenchman in the morning.
went to the ring
Things were going well.
Did an 08:20 lap, video here:
Dad went out and did a 9:34, very impressed considering how few laps he's done, and it was raining!!!!!
Then I went out again.
Bent the car.
And it was all going so well!
Oh well, Onwards and upwards as they say!
New door went on straight away:
then a new rear beam:
And now that's straight again:
Coilover looks ok:
But it's clearly bent:
New seat on the way:
Also got a new subframe and wishbones on ebay, a pair of driveshafts, as well as a new hub upright, arrangements are being made for new suspension, then it should just be the bodywork left to sort out!
It can only come back stronger and better than before! Failure is not an option
Good work mate! Im still amazed at how well the car done considering!
by the way i so want that seat!!
Could have been a lot worse but at the end of the day your both ok and the car is fixable which is always a bonus. Loving the positive attitude Prawn keep it up mate!
Jesus..... thank god your ok, you were doing 140 when it got away from ya,,, could have been so much worse,,,, and that 8.20 lap was just awsome to watch ,,,,, did you drive it home or have to trailer it ???
Drove it home all the way
Forgot to add a link to the full trip report here:
For those who havn't stumbled across it previously
unless you have it sorted the body shop I use are magicians and im sure I could sort out a decent price for you on the body work if you are looking to get it done?
Thanks Dan, Will drop you a text in a mo. I actually just text you about something else about 30 seconds ago too!
I cant believe it's the same car that was involved in that crash
Also I'm not sure what I'm more impressed about! The speed you are fixing the car, or the ability you have to source spare parts (even in the same colour) for it
it's one of those things Westy, the quicker it's fixed the quicker I'll be happy, so it's being fixed asap, and it has to be better than before the crash
The door isn't the right colour though, it's just filthy! Ming blue door sadly
Anyone got an S3 front bumper going cheap? Condition not too important so long as it's not cracked / ripped???
Ming Blue FTW
I've searched for S3 bumpers before and they normally hold their value, which isn't a pretty price.
hmmmmmmmmmmmm. I seem to recall stacey had a spare now I think about it!
Yes he does mate. meant to mention that in a text to you. He might not part with his spare one but may part with the one currently on the car but I believe that one may need some repair! Drop him a text.
did it have an S3 front before?
Have you tried the classifieds? there are a coupe of S3's being broken there iirc..
Jusy to echo what other peolpe have said prawn, I'm glad your alright and came out of that accident in one piece, must be a scarey thought knowing your now about to crash at 140mph.
Well done for grabbing the bull by the horns, the old trusty A3 will be back in action in no time.
The angels were looking over you that day.
