O the joys of s3 ownership.
Hi folks,
the front power steering pipe that runs below the rad is weeping or is that me!

anyway is this an audi part or are they any after market parts.

any links would be good.

thanks

Mark

Mine weeps a bit too. Been keeping an eye on the level though and doesn't seem to have moved!..

Audi parts but people have got hydraulic specialists to repair them before for much cheaper...

Thing to remember is that the pipe acts as an oil cooler too hence why it twists all over the place... they all go especially cars in scotland (all cars corrode there) and ones that don't have the under tray fitted

Did mine recently. Cost about £70 for the part from Audi and about an hour to fit. Make sure you have enough fluid and some decent jubilee clips (x2).

I would recommend getting it done sooner rather than later - mine had a tiny pinhole on the curve which suddenly decided to dump the fluid by enlarging itself.

Why are these on the S3 and not on the Golf, etc? Given that they are so troublesome, and the Golf can do without it, would removal of this pipe not be a good idea?

Not really... S3 generates more heat, heat that is transferred into the power steering rack and subsequently the fluid... realistically removal/simplification requires fitting of an alternative PAS cooler...

well looks like my car has just hit me with its 3rd issue in as many days, whining steering this morning checked fluid , very low.

Wiped my hand under the car and there is green fluid there, guessing I have a pipe gone/ leaking somewhere. Joy of Joys before I go away :)

Is it best to get Audi pipe or get a specialist to make me one ????
