Finally fitted, bolts i ordered were slightly too long this time so ideal bolt length seems to be 55mm .Pedal feels good ,just bedding in better high speed testing tonight.

Awesome stopping power, still bedding in discs have a anticorrosion paint on them so trying to wear that away plus pads are only standard so how good should these be with ferodos or simular.Really good feel to them no excessive pedal travel, feels like a stock setup but with loads more power and bite.

well done some mesuring and looks like they are going to fit but the hoses are getting to me. My autoparts store tells me that the flex pipes are the same on mine as that on a rs4. So so it the hard pipe that i need to go from the flexie pipe to the calpier many thanks stuart

Will probably get some floating giro discs later on they look too be the best discs available for track use.

I've been gathering all the bits I need for the conversion and pads are the last thing I need. I read that 18z pads over hang the 345 ML disc so some guys use the 17Z pads(330mm disc), Just wondering what pads you're running Andy?

Still running the stock pads that came with the calipers i will stick with these until they wear out ,then i'll get some girodiscs 350mm and uprated pads should be a crazy set up then and a lot lighter too.Ml discs are fine for road use but the giros should be much better for track use.

If you see my pics pad overhang is hardly anything, but as you say audizine guys say 17z pads are a better match with 18z calipers and ml discs

Hi there and sorry for first post being a pedant - for clarity in case anyone else takes on the 6 pot fitment the calipers you have are from a V8 or Turbo not a Turbo S.

    V8/Turbo (4.5l) piston sizes are: 2 x 30 mm + 2 x 34 mm + 2 x 38 mm
    Turbo S (4.5l) piston sizes are: 2 x 32 mm + 2 x 36 mm + 2 x 38 mm

V8/Turbo total pad area: 428 cm²
Turbo S total pad area: 480 cm²

    V8/Turbo: Silver (V8) Red (Turbo)
    Turbo S: Red only

Clears things up if people are gathering parts.

    Cheers Andy:thumbsup:

I've ordered some Cayenne pads but not really sure what ones!! I can't seem to find out what Cayennes, Touaregs etc came with 17z or 18z calipers so just ordered a set of cheap Mintex ones, at least I know either 17z or 18z pads will work!!

Cayenne (9PA) came with four different types of caliper

    Black - 3.2l V6
    Silver - 4.5l V8
    Red - 4.5l Turbo
Red (bigger pistons)- 4.5l Turbo S

I wasn't trying to be difficult - just if others were looking to do the same mod it helps to know what to look for

I got them from a guy in Poland from another forum, 21 Euros delivered and here in 5 days. I saw some on Ebay for a crazy price (£66) and there was no way I was paying that so was going to fab up my own until I found the others.

Popes, Do you know of piston sizes of other 18z applications?

I've just nipped out to the garage and my pistons seem to be a bit smaller than any of the other ones you've listed. Pistons were retracted, but a rough measurement of mine are 34mm 30mm and 26mm.

I'm guessing Touareg as mine weren't silver or red etc.

    9PA Cayenne (MY04>10)

V6 system known as the 17" brake
V8/Turbo known as the 18" brake
Turbo S known as the 19" brake

    V6 (3.2l) piston sizes are: 2 x 34 mm + 2 x 36 mm + 2 x 38 mm
    V8/Turbo (4.5l) piston sizes are: 2 x 30 mm + 2 x 34 mm + 2 x 38 mm
    Turbo S (4.5l) piston sizes are: 2 x 32 mm + 2 x 36 mm + 2 x 38 mm

V6 total pad area: 384 cm²
V8/Turbo total pad area: 428 cm²
Turbo S total pad area: 480 cm²

    V6: Black
    V8/Turbo: Silver (V8) Red (Turbo)
    Turbo S: Red only

For Caliper part numbers/pads etc see page 222> of the following

    http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/originalparts/en/E_9PA_KATALOG.pdf

The number in (-) is a supeceded part.

The dust seal area of the piston has a smaller diameter (to accommodate the seal lip) so the actual piston diameter will be larger.

Andy or anyone else running Cayennes just looking for a wee bit advice/confirmation regarding the lines? I'm all bolted up and just have the lines to swap over and bleed tomorrow after work.

I'm using MRC B7 RS4 lines like yourself and many others but can't find any pictures online that show how the line sits once bolted up.

Does this look OK and similar to yours or does your elbow point downwards and with a single curve up to where it connects to the solid line on the chassis?

Lastly, the spring clip thing on the joint between the new line and the solid on the chassis, does it lift off once the joint has been split and then reclips onto the new line before rejoining?

Looks simular to my pipe routing i think,i had to fit a washer over the chassis end of the to stop the smaller end pulling through and yes reuse the spring clip.

Good man, thanks for the quick reply!!

    Any tips for bleeding?

I'm thinking of swapping one over, then bleeding starting from the inner nipple then the outer one, then doing the other side.

Bled brakes in the past using the two man traditional method but bought a Gunson easibleed thing to pressure bleed these, not really looking forward to it tbh!!

Did you use modded ml55 discs ie with slight machining in the hub diameter?

Yeah, ECP were selling Pagid ones on Ebay for £38 each with free postage and mate machined them for me.

All fitted and bled today, The gunson worked a treat, quick and easy!!

Really over the moon with them, great peddle and very progressive feel to them.

All in it cost me £520 for 2nd hand calipers, new pads and fitting kit, new discs, new lines and the caliper bolts. If I'd been a bit more patient and held out for custom lines I could have done it for under the 500.

Thanks for all the help and advice tho Andy, it was your thread that got me hooked on the Cayennes!!

Need to buy wider spacers if I'm gonna use the Speedlines this summer tho!!
