Poor MPG

I changed the battery yesterday to a Bosch S4 and cleaned out the grommets in the plenum chamber (10 years worth of S**t!). Re-programed the keys all fine however when I filled up this morning the DIS was showing only 405miles to empty whereas it was showing between 700-850 before changing the battery.

Does the average MPG reset after a battery change? it has started to creep up, got it to about 485 miles to empty after driving it for 35 miles. Its not the fully programmed DIS so i can't see the mpg while driving.

I have a 2004 1.9tdi 130 btw.

Yes all the trip info will reset and your car will take a while to get back to where it was. It isn't suddenly doing half the mpg.
