Phoned up Awesome and they dont have any of the old APR mounts anymore and they were pretty sure that the Neuspeed one for the B6 doesnt fit due to different shaped holes. I`d like one before i get my cambelt/clutch/fly done which hopefully should be soon so getting one from America is effort and takes too long.

    Anyone ever made their own?

I also wondered what the RS4 one would be like, if it was any harder and so on. On ETKA it lists it as the same as the 6 cylinder Passat Diesels engines so have ordered a standard one for the A4 and an RS4/Passat diesel to compare. If its beefier and roughly the correct internal diameter then i`ll use that but if not then its back to the drawing board.

    Neuspeed one fits fine.

The hole is a different shape, but it goes on all the same.

Had one on the old FWD but it went with the car. Perhaps i should go steal it back, mums never going to notice the difference :p

haha well thats alright then. Will see what this one i`ve ordered in looks like. If its pap and looks like it`ll do no better than standard one then i`ll order Neuspeed one. Far too much movement in the gearstick when accelerating and letting off even with brand new engine and gearbox mounts.

Did you uprate the engine and tranny mounts when you replaced them?

I've got a pair of used S4 ones to go on shed, and they're much stiffer than the ones i removed!

I was going to order RS4 mounts but didnt have 150quid(COST) to spend at the time plus i couldnt be arsed to order from Audi so i got brand new standard ones for nothing including gearbox mounts to which i found when i changed the n/s gb mount it had detatched itself from the metal housing and was near enough hanging out lol. Made it all a lot better but still not enough for my liking. The standard snub mounting is pretty useless. Squishy useless piece of foamy rubber so hopefully this different one i`ve ordered is better as it`ll only cost me a few quid at cost.

    yep.

I took my tranny mounts off the shed while its engine is out and i've filled them with polyurethane sealant. Did the same with the rear diff mount. Unfortunately the engine mounts are fluid filled and theres no void to fill will sealant so they'll be going on as they are.

Will probably get a neuspeed snub, as they're pretty cheap.

Yeah thats what i did lol.

Neuspeed one is pretty cheap indeed. £31 odd with delivery and on ebay from Awesome atm. Im pretty sure the old APR ones were more and they didnt look as good as they were the same as the standard ones but poly instead so wouldnt squish. Neuspeed shouldnt really move all that much at all which is good. Will know by friday if i need to order one if this RS4 one is useless

got one from 034 with the new housing as well... seems to be good.

I am getting some harder mounts made for tranny and engine over the next few weeks.

You happy with those mounts Kev? Told you they were in good nick!

I bought the 034 track density engine mounts. They are solid, but I compared them next to the stock mounts and there is a void on the stock ones which could be filled with something like Tigerseal. It's like a ring around the top of the mount.

Anyone know if the 1.8T and S4 snub mounts are the same? If so, I can measure my JHM snub mount when I get home for you.

Yeah its the same. Its only the 2.5 diesels and RS4 mounts that are different to the rest.

    RS4 mount it is

You can squash the standard one so the hole in the middle is almost closed together with one hand. Try doing it with the RS4 mount and its solid! it doesnt compress even 1mm unless you use 2 hands and really squeeze it and even then its a struggle. That`ll be going on when the rest of the work gets done.

Its only £10.68 inc vat so should be a nice cheap way of reducing movement.

Anyone want my S4 one before it goes in the bin? That's solid rubber as well.

Does the mount for 1.8 do mine aswell?(2.8 v6 Quattro)

Or is the RS4 one just as good, and cheaper alternative??? Is it fitted and tested yet?

Will be fitted and tested hopefully in the next month when all my work eventually gets done. yours will be pretty much same as the 1.8t im sure but cant be 100% without looking at work.

RS4/2.5 diesel is the best OEM option and is only a tenner

All of them gradually for Better oem ones as long as they don't break the bank

Left, right and snub RS4 mounts including the vat comes to £217.68. Gearbox mounts you`d be better off doing as Aragorn did and fill them with tigerseal to stiffen them up

left and right is 8D019979AD and snub is 8D099339E

i dont think the rs4 snub will be a tight enough fit in the mount to make that much difference, plus its rubber so will deteriorate

the neuspeed one you have to ignore b6 fitting instructions and turn through 90deg then its a very tight fit in the b5 mount (it probably works better in a b5 than a b6)

Its not really supposed to be a tight fit, as if it is it transmits huge amounts of vibrations into the car.

The idea is that when the engines "at rest" the snub sits centralised in the housing but not touching it. When you load it up the engine naturally tries to lift and the snub then comes up against the housing stopping it moving any further. Ideally you want a very small airgap of no more than a milimeter or two, and with a stiff mount this typically works fine, giving a decent balance between comfort and performance.

    Yeah pretty much^

If i wanted it solid then sure but my ex had pretty much solid engine mounts in her Celica GT4. Sure it was a track car but jesus the vibrations were shocking and you could watch the bonnet vibrate more than having a huge sound system.

Just to resurrect this thread for a min... Was the definitive answer for a snub mount upgrade the RS4 item pn 8D099339E ?
Got to do the belts at some point this summer and thought I might as well do the snub too :)

As the V6/RS4 snub mount is the cheapest to replace I'm planning on starting with this one...

Can the part be fitted without moving the engine or pulling front end of car out?

    Thanks
