Pollen filter! Where is it?

    A3, 2000, 1.8T Quattro.

    I've searched the forum for threads on this but cannot find my answer. Can anyone put
    me in the right direction to finding the pollen filter? What does it look like? And how do i change it?

    I have managed to change the air, oil filters and the spark plugs so i thought i would give the pollen filter a go, well if i can find it!?

    Where is the scuttle panel? In or outside the car?!

    warm engine, apply tetroclean engine degreaser with a brush, leave for 4-5 mins. Start engine and jet wash (don't stay long on any area).

    Leave engine to run for 15-20 mins to allow all water to dry. THen spray some rubber/vinyl care and wipe any overspray ;)

    When jet washing or steam cleaning engine bay you should cover your dizzy cap with a plastic carrier bag, also other exposed sensors, sometimes found around the injectors etc and obviously if you have an induction kit, id cover that too..id also spray some sort of WD40 or a simular product over the block to stop it from oxidising after the jetwash. if you have a leaf blower you can quicken the drying process by blasting the excess water off the engine, you can always use those Vax blowing hoovers too.

    Cue loads of S3 owners wasting an hour looking for their distributer cap, bwahahahaha.

    Shy - Is your A3 from the 1980s?

    how do you change the pollen filter ?, ive tried but i cant get into it

    I never do.
    My engine bay isn't sealed, nor is it waterproof...so in Scotland **** gets wet...so I don't doubt the effectiveness of the electrical connectors seals.

    All I do is spray on de-greaser, brush it in, leave it to soak and hose off.
    I'd never use a jetwash...low pressure, high volume will shift the crud.

    Then just start it to help dry it all off.
