Sent my 99 AUDI A4 to Western London Audi today to get the £199 major service done and Free MOT. Just been told the brake fluid reservoir needs to be changed because according to their technician's "exprience", the reservoir is going to burst if they use some AUDI special tool to bleed the brake. Also the MOT failed on emission, they said it is going to cost me 70 quid just to investigate the issue. I've told them I want nothing more than the service and will take the car to an independant garage.

Can anyone recommend a trustworthy garage in London? Would be ideal if it is not far away from hounslow/chiswick area. I want to change brake fluid and the reservoir if it indeed needs replacement. How much is the job going to cost me?

Sorry if the questions seem a little bit too basic, I have had the car for 3 years but only changed smalls things like battery, lights and window wipers myself. Havent got much experience with dealing with garage, but I have heard quite a lot cowboy stories.

hoo..., passed CO emission by just 0.002 after 2nd fast idle test. At least I can be legal on the road for another 12 months. Find a hole in the air vaccume horse. Needs to go to scrap yard this weeknd to find replacement. The MOT guy told me it is very likely I need to change CAT next year as I wont be that lucky again.

Brake fluid change and reservoir yet to be sorted out. Tempted to do it myself after finding some intructions on youtube. But think it might be safer to ask specialist to check whether there is actually a leakage as told by the AUDI dealer. Hopefully, everything can be done this weeknd.

The resovoirs are prone to bursting, i blew mine up with my eezibleed by ignoring the instructions.

If you keep it under 10psi, you should be fine. I was lazy and just clipped it onto the front wheel, at 32psi.

Might be worth picking up a spare res from the scrappy while your there just incase?
