Hi There
Ive had my audi now a year and have been surfing through this forum for the last 6 months but i have not been able to find any posts about chipping a 1996 audi 1.8t. so decided i would join the forum today and post my question.
first alittle about my car at the moment it hasn't really been touched all i have really done is added a touring style skirts to her and rear spoiler, ive added a boost gauge (mounted in the air vent not a tacky one that sits on the dash) and i have a hybrid GFB 1003 dump valve. i know alot of people say that the 1.8t wont work with these dump valves but i have had no problems with it so far and my throttle responce is better than it was with the standard DV.
now ive spoken to my local garages who put me in touch with jabba but they do not chip cars of my age any more i have also contacted all the sellers on ebay who offer remaps for the 1.8t but they also can not remap my car. now my question is does anyone here have a 1996 audi (abe engine) that has been chiped and if so where did you have this done? im not looking for a massive increase in power but i would just like a little more power when im over taking. also ive heard that chipping the 1.8t can offer better mpg is this so with the older cars?? i travel 90miles aday to and from work and average 34mpg 50/50 split motorway and town driving and would really like to retain this.
thanks in advance
Kev
