So, I have had a bit of a saga with the fking car recently. I originally had to replace the front discs. Then one of the front bearings (which was done at a independant garage). Then the discs needed replacing again about 2-3 months later due to them "warping". That was a couple of weeks prior to Xmas. Now the vibrations are starting to return (not as bad yet). Took car back to Audi specialist and they said that I now need:

    bearing - £97.61
drive flange (presume hub?) - £108.81
    2 top arms (£77.29 x2)
    disc - £90.48.

    Plus labour@ £247.50.

    Total £838.78.

The replacement discs prior cost over £300 already.

Help! I cant justify paying over £1000 for all the work within a 6 month period. Can anyone suggest better pricing? Any other help would be greatly appreciated!

As I see it you have two choices depending on whether you are keeping the car
1, get all the parts from ebay for under half the quoted prices and either hope for the best or sell it!
2, pay the quote and at least you know its a proper job.
Have you asked if they will do a cash job, did they look busy?

Not a fan of getting parts off ebay. Thinking from eurocarparts or something.

They are pretty busy - they do have 2 shops, but they aint cash offer type of garage unfortunatly.

What I am thinking of now is to SORN it, park it up for a while and start doing the car up as a project (original intention), and buy some ****-box to do me for a few months.

Yes but the other car will be a another money pit like all cars, especially as its an unknown quantity
Cars dont like standing outside unused for long, all sorts can and does go wrong, especially brakes and any other bare metals exposed.

true. Most likely will be SORN and stored inside which will make things much easier. If I find a £1000 ****-box then not worried about anything on it. :)
