I have just had my car serviced at an Audi specialist and the guy said after taking it for its MOT that the car wasn't performing as well as it should be doing. He said that it didn't have the urge to move as it should do across the revs and so he thinks that I need a new mass air flow sensor which he estimates at £200. He said that this problem didn't show up on the computer diagnostics.

Does this sound like the case?
Is it possible to clean or fix th existing meter?
Can you get these from a scrapped vehicle or would these probably be dodgy too it it's a common fault?

Thanks for reading this and any help is much appreciated.

Yeah that does help! Are you able to tell me what the MAF looks like and where it is located? How would you clean it? What is the sensing element? Thanks for the help, much appreciated!

MAF sensor is located within the piping after the airbox.
Its a small piece of duct housing which houses the actual sensor.
THis is VERY common on VAG cars as point of failure, and if its a high miler, chnaces are it will be contaminated anyway so will need changing.
VAG are doing a p/ex scheme at the mo, take yours in and they'll give you an exchange unit for 80 quid.
Well worth it.

Cheers. Thanks very much for that info. Will be speaking to the soon! Is VAG cars the dealership or vagparts.com ?? Thanks very much for that money saving info!!!
