I changed the bottom ball joints on my S3 today, after i was advised on my MOT 6 months ago. Afterwards i noticed there was side play in both front wheels, one was worse than the other. I checked the track rod ends and they are fine.

Does this mean a new rack? Or can these be tightened?

I have been told some racks have joints that can be tightened under the steering rack gaiter!

Has anyone took a rack off and seen the inner workings to know whether it is repairable?

Any advice, and help is appreciated.......

you need new inner arm joints. they screw to the rack and replace the worn parts, you then screw the TREs to them, Job done
