I'm currently running a BFB 1.8t in a B7 an thought it'll be best to post the question here.

I have myself a set or soon to be a set of BAM pistons and forged rods heading my way and i would like to get a general idea if they'll work.

Knowing that the BAM uses a comprssion ratio of 9.0:1 and the BFB using 9.5:1 can anybody give me a quick yes, no and with what alterations (as i'm clueless with this). As i'm heading to tony's i would prefer to keep my 06a block i'm using.

Thanks for the feedback

Found a thread here :http://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...ur-1-8T-s-cranks-Are-any-of-them-forged/page2

The part relevant to your question=BEX pistons is part number: 06B107065N which is the same as AVJ, BFB, AMB and ALT

Interestingly the ALT engine is 2.0 litre N/A

I don't know how the compression ratio could be different other than the BEX using a thicker head gasket, maybe check out part numbers for the BEX engine compared to BFB, it's all I can think of if the pistons are the same and the con rods are the same.

Seems to confirm this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Audi-1...ession-reduction-Seat-Skoda-20V-/201279183029

BAM pistons will work fine in a BFB.

The aftermarket rods are the same in all 1.8t's (bar the 19 vs 20mm piston pin), though some rods have clearance issues in older 058 blocks, that wont be an issue here.
