Hello, we've just become the proud owners of a beautiful Q7 S-Line Quattro and this is the first of what I expect to be many questions I'm going to have ask :)

We tow a caravan and when we put the car in gear, obviously the rear parking sensors are detecting an "object" and bleep constantly. This can be quite disconcerting when trying to reverse the van on to a pitch. Is there any way you can switch off the bleepers ?

    Thanks in advance

It is my belief that if the wiring is to OEM specification then this should not happen as the car will automatically turn off the sensors when the caravans electrics are connected. Who fit the tow bar? and what wiring kit was used? It may just be a programing issue which VCD's could fix. (search on the VCD's thread for info). It has never happened to any of my cars

A genuine Audi towbar has a trailer module which takes care of the rear park sensors. It may be possible to program the tow hitch into the parking controller module. The fact that a non genuine towbar may cause an error on the module as it cannit see the trailer module.

    Coding control unit

The code is composed as follows:

    0 X X X X X X : Always

    X 0 X X X X X : Without visual indication on display

    X 2 X X X X X : With visual indication on display

    X X 0 X X X X : Without trailer hitch, without rear-view camera

    X X 1 X X X X : With trailer hitch, without rear-view camera

    X X 2 X X X X : Without trailer hitch, with rear-view camera

    X X 3 X X X X : With trailer hitch, with rear-view camera

    X X X 0 X X X : Manual

    X X X 1 X X X : Automatic gearbox

    X X X X 0 X X: ECE countries (without reinforced bumper)

    X X X X 1 X X : S-variant ECE countries (without reinforced bumper)

    X X X X 2 X X : USA (with reinforced bumper)

    X X X X 3 X X : S-variant USA (with reinforced bumper)
