Parking aid

My 2003 A4 Cab has parking sensors on rear bumper, when reverse is engaged there is a 5sec beep (manual says this indicates a fault) but manual also describes a dash-mounted switch, which my car does not appear to have.
Any suggestions as to the possible fault, and/or the missing switch?

I think the switch only refer's to the full kit. If you only have rear sensors then no switch on the dash. Possibly a retro fit set.
Sounds like a faulty sensor...
