I know this has been covered many times before but I have found the common cause for over revving at gear changes to be a faulty clutch switch. However, I have found that my 1.8t 1997 a3 does not have a clutch switch.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what could cause this? I have recently changed the coolant temp sensor and cleaned the throttle body.

Cheers

Liam

Could be why it over revs!

Is there a blue connector in the dangling around looking like it should be connected to a clutch switch?

Can be looked at/ changed by lying on your back in the foot well

I changed mine but over revving still present!!

Could be happening because you're not used to it yet. When I've changed cars I've noticed the same thing but after a while, when I got used, it stopped happening. I wasn't lifting the foot of the gas pedal in the same time I was pressing the clutch. There was a slight delay. And there was no switch installed in any of the cars.
