Where can I get a decent CABLE/ZIP TIE of suitable thickness and length for the outer (wider) end of the outer CV joint boot? I trecked down to Maplin and got their longest ties and, well, they weren't long enough. It's just a temporary fix until I can get the real "Oetiker" clamp on.

Do Laser do a proper tool for the Oetiker clamps which I can pick up from GSF or Halfords etc?

Alternatively, any tips for getting the Oetiker clamps on without the tool?

Failing that, where can I get a zip tie which will fit? I just want to get it sealed temporarily and I will get the garage to fit the Oetiker clamp when I MOT it.

    Thanks. :)

i doubt zip tie will hold it on properly, if its not long enough why not double up on the ties in other words thread 1 end of zip tie through another then wrap around gaiter the cut off both ends

Zip ties work well tbh, some kits are actually supplied with them As long as the CV itself is clean of grease as is practical and it will hold

had a bad experiance with them of the wifes car, i think it would be ok if fitting them from NEW, however on her car must have slipped off and the boot had been hanging off for a month after i bought the car and the boot had got 'used' to that position, luckly it had not damaged the CV.

so when i tried to zip tie it back drove it a few miles and it had come off tried it a few times kept coming off, so had to replace the boot in the end.

not really mate i made sure it was clean and dry after the 1st atempt.
the boot had fallen off the bit where it would normally strap onto there was some resistance trying to keep it on. just my experiance which i know is minimal compared to yours mate.
