A soldier from a village near to me was killed in Afghanistan and it really saddened me but my mate has a stepson over there who once enlisted was sent straight to Iraq (Basra) and I spoke to his wife and she relunctantly told me of waiting at the train station to meet her son,he appeared in uniform with his helmet, flak vest and kitbag also a good tan but whilst he was on leave two of his battle group were killed and this made him physically sick even though hes a big strapping 22 year old man
I see socialist workers in town with a petition demanding withdrawal of troops from these places and the next time they are gonna get some **** as it seems they are disrespectng the lives of our dead and living soldiers over there

They've always winded me up ever since I came across my 1st bunch at uni. Always chatting a load of sh1t and lobbying for ridiculous causes. Im all up for freedom of speech etc but if there was 2 things i'd change they'd be:

1. Fight for something thats likely to happen at least!
2. Do something more than stand in the street moaning about things, and printing news letters to tell the public what they are moaning about this week.

Jamie Oliver is a good example here with his healthy school dinners for kids. He fought for a cause that he could actually do something about, and he went to speak to the people that could do something about it. It got a lot of peoples backs up and needed tweaking once implemented but I think he was right in his goals and he got somewhere with it!

If some of these tree hugging socialists actually got off their backside, went to Iraq/Afghanistan to see what the heck they were talking about in the 1st place, and then spoke to the politians instead of me on the street, then maybe, just maybe they'll get somewhere with their causes!!!!

Hello from Afghanistan!

Just to put my 2 pence worth in, I'm 27 and been here for 3 days and I'm shitting myself. Keep seeing the choppers come in with casualties and it makes your heart sink. I'm pretty sure at least 1 person I know will die while I'm here and I have no idea how it'll effect me. Not looking forward to finding out either.

Take care of your butt out there Staz.

I'll second that sentiment, remember to duck when required.

Good luck and keep safe :icon_thumright:
