Bashed my knee quite hard on light control knob as was getting out of the car and think I've pushed it in!

Couldn't pull it back out again though.

Having only had the car 2 days not sure if I'm just imagining it and was always this way. It doesn't feel right though as fingers squish in to grab the bar.

Can someone confirm?

If it is pushed in best way to get it back out?

It should sit out flush mate.

God knows how many times I have whacked my knee against it too.. surprised I haven't broken it tbh!!

Doh, thanks for the quick response.

I've emailed Coventry for advice hopefully can take it into my local cheltenham to sort.

have you tried giving it a pull in each position? If that don't work then I wouldn't imagine it would be too hard to pop the whole unit out and see if you could push through from the back?

I did this the other week getting out. It ****** hurt ! Luckily, my knob stayed in place ;)

hopefully its not permanent damage you've caused from kneeing your car in the knob.

Yes tried this to no avail. Couldn't see where to access behind from to see what clips are holding it in.

Keep the jokes coming :D

Pull harder. Trust me if you want but it also happened to me yesterday and I was perfectly able to bring it back to its first position.
+ I actually bleeded a bit on my leg...

Could whip out the lube and see if that helps ease it out??......:p:D

Worse case Rob and Ross at Cheltenham Audi are both really nice. If you can avoid the old guy, I've never more a more grumpy patronising person

Pop a Viagra in the petrol cap and it should soon shoot up!

(P.S) I accept no responsibility if you actually try this

Seriously, don't do this.

Putting Viagra in the fuel will trip the ED1 flag and Audi will void your warranty.

Mine looks like it has been pushed it too and won't come out! Works fine though so not too worried :)

Are you talking from experience? :lmfao:

It's nothing to be ashamed of. Apparently something like 30% of men will trip the ED1 flag in their life-time. Sometimes it's just the engine being over-stressed but it can often be a sign of a more serious drivetrain fault.

You've just got to hope the dealer doesn't notice.

...and I'm out. That's more than enough knob gags for me :D

If it helps - I owned a Passat about 10 years ago, and broke the wing-mirror adjuster with my knee twice. I told my dealer it was in a bad position and was liable to be hit, they replaced it both times for free. All VAG cars I have seen since have the adjuster in a different position now

Try getting your wife to pull it hard, that will make it cum out :p

Same happend to me in my S3 several times but I always achieved to pull it back...

I don't know if it's the same but in my van (a VW T5) the remove the light switch you push in and turn one notch then it can be pulled out.
Maybe that switch has a similar removal operation? Might be worth trying pushing it in and turning?

That's normal mate, nothing to worry about.

Last time I got kneed in the knob, during a game of rugby it was, mine disappeared inside a bit too. Should be alright after a hot bath and a couple of days taking it easy.

Pulled as hard as possible and it's not budging anyone know best way to remove the unit?

Well i just checked and mine pops in no problem. If it is any help i had it in the auto position and just put a little force into pulling it back out. ;)

I tried this on mine as I know what you are talking about, this was the removal method on the previous 8P too.
But no go.

Really? I don't remember, I was just stunned and blinded by the Kermit paintwork ;)

Try pulling yours out in the Auto position !

I couldn't take my eyes off it. You were so excited at getting your car.

This is what it's supposed to look like. Yours is just deformed.

I tried it at auto too no luck. Managed to grab with finger and thumb of both hands and pull but nothing.

It still works fine and I had mini with auto lights and didn't touch my knob for 2 years but it bugs me that it's not right!

I do this on a weekly basis getting in mine while it's aired out lol, just pull it'll pop out. Sometimes the silver trim comes forward first then you can pop that back down when the knob pops forward
