One cylinder stopped firing

    Changed spark plug - no change
    Swapped coil pack - no change
    No oil in plug well so can rule out arching

    Any other suggestions?

    Check the coil pack loom as these deteriate due to the heat in the area, the insulation cracks and breaks down ;)

    I had to replace mine awesome gti do a replacement loom to splice in if this is the case with yours, think it's £30 iirc

    If its an AGU engine it will more than likely be your ignition amplifier on the side of the air box. A very common failure.

    Yeh, quite often cylinder 2 as well for some odd reason!

    i have the same problem and have tried changing the ignition amplifier too. to no success. when you say cylinder 2 do you mean 2nd from the right as in |4|3|2|1| layout? ta

    Cyl 1 is at the Drivers side of the engine.

    I guess its possible the A3 is wired differently, but on the A4 its almost always cyl 2 that drops out first when the ICM dies.

    It's cylinder 2 that died on mine as well! How much will the ignition amp cost? Thanks!

    about 70 - 100 for new bosch job or 20-40 second hand, although u dont know wether used ones are alreet or not

    Thanks. Have anyone tried the 2.0t coil pack conversion on an AGU? Any idea / guide on what is involved?
