Worth considering that some recently sold with two sets of lightly used discs and pads for £500 and £40 postage.

Good price for a complete kit but if it was just calipers I'd get the Cayenne Turbo ones for the same money from the states...

but then you have to think about the costs involved in running those calipers, disc and pads are going to be expensive fo sho, plus the calipers themselves will probs be pretty heavy

Exactly why I went for the Boxster ones. Can keep the standard sized discs and the pads were no more expensive than the ones for the S3 calipers. Also the Porka Brembos are mono block so they are stiffer and lighter than the GT junior kit.

Never really looked into disc prices to fit, so I take it price wise there's a big difference ??

Yeah the bigger/thicker the disc, the more it costs. The boxsters fit over the standard 25mm thick discs so you can use them on cheapy discs.

Well the bigger the disc and caliper means you will have more pad to make contact with more disc but it all weighs a lot more. Mine are very good for what I want them to do.

Will read the definitive first as I ain't got a scooby, like the idea of the gt's as it seems a straight swap.

Really you need a set of Porsche 996 fronts with the proper adapters, Prawns got a set of his daily and although I've never put a foot on the pedal I've head butted the dash pretty ****ing hard a couple of times when he's put the land anchors on.

Although a set of camber corrective LCR hubs and LCR brembos would be a great upgrade from the mediocre S3 brakes and would cost a LOT less.

So are the lcr's same as the gt juniors?

LCR calipers are differnt offset to GT Junior calipers, so you would need S3 specfic brakets for them where as with the LCR's you could use the entire LCR setup. GT Junior calipers have an internal fluid channel so don't have the external balance pipe like LCR's which I think is nicer, the piston sizes are the same. The same pads are used on the two brakes aswell.

The LCR's have 323mm discs (so 11mm bigger than an S) and you will need calipers, carriers, pads, discs and hoses.

You would need exactly the same for the GT Junior kit, but it would be more expensive and have an internal fluid channel and a different offset.

God knows how I know this, I've never even owned a set. This is all Prawns doing I tell you...

    Oi!

They're not as differen as you say, caliper geometry, and thus brackets are identical!

Aside from the slightly different external shape to accommodate internal fluid movement (no x-over as J said), the only other difference is the hose entry to the caliper.

Mid way up the caliper on LCR's, bottom of the caliper on GT's.

Personally, I'd just get lcr 323's and don't waste your money on the porsches

    No Pronz, I'm right.

Mk3 ICR's use GT Junior calipers (305mm), LCR's use a dated variation of the GT Junior with different offset.

Doesnt the LCR share the same camber corrective hubs as the S3?

    I would have thought so.

The beauty of my Boxster calipers is that I can run the standard discs with them to keep the cost down for replacements and they are monoblock calipers, so lighter and more rigid.

    Balls! I never knew that!

I take it it's just the position of the bolt holes that differs Bill? because they both use the same disc, so the final caliper position doesn't change surely?

You learn something new every day!

Has anyone got any experience with the Boxster S setup 28x318mm disc setup?

Eyeing up a set on ebay and need to know if they'll work fine with the correct adapters/carriers?....

    Cheers,

    Ryan

Boxster S fronts are the same as my 996 carrera fronts. I run these on my daily driver.

On the VAG platform most people run a 330x28mm disc (geometric limit of the caliper), as carriers are readily available.

They're pretty damn good too :)

yes, just the hole positions in the caliper different.

I make up brembo brake kits, brackets etc... so kinda have to know this stuff :)
I dont use LCR calipers however, so I dont do brackets for these, in case anyone asks me.

yup, 17'' S3 and/or TT 6 spokes will both fit over my 996's and my LCR brakes with out spacers.
