iam from the 8p a3 side ,my freind has a 2006 a4 tfsi quottro and its done a high milage of about 117400 she is on long life sevicing at the moment ,i think the oil used is 5w 30 and it needs toping up every 3000 miles , so would a thicker oil like a 10w 40 high milege oil be better , i know that 5w 40 with the correct 5.. number is the one for fixed servicing.

also her power steering pump has gone its coming out of the shaft with the pulley , can these be resealed , becouse the pump is very expensive.

    thanks donna

Think its going to be a new pump, I'm not sure if there are companies that recondition them, but I had to replace mine when the cambelt was done on my old 2.0TQ.

agreed, get away from long life servicing and change oil and filter regularly..it is the life blood of the car. i do mine every 12,000 miles as standard.

^^^ This is good advice. Stick to a 5w-30 or 5w-40 synthetic meeting the correct specs. Change every 12,000 or once a year, what ever comes first.

1ltr over 3,000 miles is OK, nothing to worry about.

    Cheers
