Hi,

I took my S3 (2000 Reg) in today to have some new pads fitted. On the way the oil min light switched on. Speaking to the garage that fixed the brakes, he suggested that by the time the oil light comes on - my engine is knackered. I jokingly said "well I was thinking of changing my car next year" and he said, "yup I would if I were you - you have probably really done some damage."

Is he right? Have I knackered the engine by driving it until the orange oil min light came on? Surely that would render an orange "warnign level 2" light as pretty useless? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Just wanted soem reassurance???

Thanks for any advice /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think you will be ok, but be warned the light only comes on when its really really low. Keep an eye on it and dont leave it get that low as it will work out very pricey indeed for a new engine!

Cheers
Rich.
