Oil light

    hiya all

    ok when i start my car up oil flashers under the miles on the clocks ive checked it and the level is fine can anyone tell me what it is

    Probably the sensor on its way out, search on here, there was a thread fairly recently about it.

    It is the oil service indicator warning light.
    You can reset it by following the instructions below -

    Press and hold the right button. (odometer reset)

    now switch on the ignition
    (oil lamp will not flash, but on at all times)

    press the right button again
    (insp is now displayed)

    pull left button. (clock set)
    (------ are now displayed)

    Pull left button again

    Depending on what service light is displayed (IN1 or OIL) you might have to play around with it to reset the correct one.

    This works on my A4 tdi (110bhp) but should work on all.

    right i tried it but as soon as i turned the ignition it went off right away and didnt flash just went back to 00miles

    but if i turn it back off oil just flashes again

    Play around with it, you might have reset the IN1 service light and not the OIL service light.

    It took me a couple of goes before I got it right.

    ive just found out that mine has to be reset with the vag cable because its a n reg 95 to 96
    im going to buy one from ebay but where do i get the software from ??
