well basically i was driving and then the oil light came on in red colour and beeped like 5 times and then turned off, any one know what this could be! thanks in advance

Could be (amongst others):
No oil in engine.
Failing oil pump.
Blocked oil pickup pipe.
Dodgy oil pressure switch (I've had this).
Either way, don't drive it, and if you have to watch like a hawk.
Listen to the engine also - tappy sounds = bad.
Get it looked at, the damage you can do with no oil pressure is total.

Get that checked imediately mate. Same thing happened to my mate and now he's £1500 lighter due to new turbo, intercoolers, oil pump, oil pickup and oil strainer!
Not if it's mechanical which is most likely.
It will/might say 'Low Oil Pressure' but you already know that.
No matter what to be honest, aside from changing the pressure switch, it's a sump off job.
Check oil level DO NOT drive your car Westle's mate is me read my thread turbo's gone. oil pump failed cost me lots of cash i only drove 2 miles after the light came. major damage caused.
i just checked the oil now its fine, and then i pushed the left button on the dash and now it says ok??? its a 1.6, should i try driving it again and then if i comes up again then i know something is up???
If it's gone away, then I would:
Leave to idle to 10 mins and watch the dash like a hawk.
If OK at idle, take for a VERY short localised drive, and see what happens. If nothing then keep an eye on it, and if it happens again, then get it looked at ASAP and don't drive until it has been.
That's what I would do at least, obviously it's up to you.
thanks for the advice, i just sat there for ten minutes looking like a 'hawk' and didnt see nothing was spot on, also i just remembered i could smell a bit of oil after driving around last week but that has stopped now. i think im just gna have to take it to the mechanics today.

this happened to me!! within 25miles of picking up my 1st S3 the oil pressure light came on, drove it to the next service station and as i pulled off it sound so tappy, unbelievably loud! phoned the dealer and told him i wanted my money back etc, he picked it up next day drove it back to his, cleaned the oil pickup pipe then phoned me back to see if i still wanted it haha! yea i want to buy a new car knowing i f*cked the entire top end!! 2nd S3's been trouble free though... full audi history became a must haha!
