Oil change from National Tyre for Audi A3 2.0 tdi 140 bhp BKD engine

Hi,
Could anyone please advise which oil to choose for my audi a3 2.0 tdi bkd engine?I went to national tyre website and after entering my car's reg number it suggest two oil types as follows
Castrol Edge 5W30 Full Synthetic (includes oil filter)
and
Castrol Edge 5W40 Turbo Diesel (includes oil filter)

and I am clueless which one to choose.

On the Castrol site, they seem to recommend the 5W30 'normal' Castrol Edge if you have a Diesel Particulate Filter fitted, and 5W40 Castrol Edge Turbo Diesel if you don't. My 55 plate BKD engine doesn't have a particulate filter, so I use the 5W40.

Castrol Technical Helpline actually recommend Castrol Edge 5W-30 for the BKD engine, NOT the 5W-40 Turbo Diesel version (see below). National Tyres price looks good, couldn't DIY for that price!



You are correct that your vehicle with the BKD engine should actually use the oil specified to VW 504 00/507 00 and not the oil specified to 502 00/ 505 00.

The right product for this specification is Castrol EDGE 5W-30
