no idea mate haha, google 'cottaging'
any update on this?
Sorry for not updating, I've been v.busy. I've had an email saying they're on the way, but haven't received them yet. I'm expecting them any time soon though. :icon_thumright:
good good, was just about to pm you actually about this, its been a fortnight or so already so hopefully another week and we'll be in business
Ollie did ya get the valve i sent ya dood?
Yes pal cheers. Have been away from home since I got it so haven't had a chance to try it yet. Will hopefully be testing it in the next couple of days. Thanks again.
no worries fella, just glad it got there..... just send it back with the catch can once ya done, i'll keep it as a spare
I have a brand new oil catch can down stairs off my old Cossie.. When is someone going to do a full "install esq" guide with pics then???Pete...
its already on this post mate
or if it isnt it will be when Ollie fits his
Look forward to seing it then...
Another update, the parcels have been at customs since last Wednesday............. maybe I'll get them early this week.
Sweet, im glad iv left the hose 150 miles away at home, when im not going back for a couple of weeks! Doh!
Shaf you are sooo inpatient
Ollie will contact us when they are here
im patient mate, just excited haha
Right, I haven't received them yet, but I've found out the reason for the delay. The boxes are at the local ParcelForce depot with a customs charge on them of £15. I'm in Sheffield this weekend so will collect from the depot on Monday, and then box up and post out asap. Finally
oooooh Ollie where in sheffield are youy going, i could save you postage mate...also work out what you want and we'll foot the £15, dont want you having to pay for all of us mate
Sorry mate, I'm in Sheffield now (the missis' parents live in Hillsborough), and the ParcelForce depot is in Portsmouth where I live, so won't be able to collect till Monday. Had actually thought about doing this for you before as I was expecting to receive them this week just gone, but unfortunately I didn't know they were being held at the depot until today... Probably just gonna take the hit myself on the customs charge, don't really wanna ask everyone to send me an extra pound. That's the risk of buying from abroad I suppose. Just looking forward to getting them now
well im sure a few of us can buy you a drink at a show maybe fella...... thats a damn shame if her parents are only in Hillsborough

Yeah, well done for the ongoing effort to get them to us Ollie. Much appreciated.
have any of you sourced the 3/8" (to bolock the inlet mani off)and 1/2" (for the brake line server)hoses yet? im guessing you wont be able to buy in small volumes like what we want, im pricing today in silicone and via a mates garage..... if nobody has sorted owt then i may stick my neck out if i get hold of a batch of the stuff
Ive not got any of those bits either mate. I'm waiting for one of you guys to do a nice detailed write up then I'll tackle the job. If you want to stick your neck out and get the bits from your mate I'll send over some cash.
will see what i can sort fella, silicone stuff looks to be sold in metres only with overall cost being around £20....prob gna go to local car spares as none of them are really functional pipes
not spending £20 on two pipes for blocking purposes only
I'm gonna ask an old mate to cut up some aluminium barbed fittings that push into the hose (button topped) on a lathe, kinda similar to what Forge use on their TIP's, simply push in and secure using a jubilee clip. I wonder if Forge sell them?
Edit: Left Forge a message as no-one wants to anser their phone.... will report back with their response!
I also need these so count me in on any group buy.
found these while on ebay may be handy http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10mm-3-8-Allo...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3efabe211d
and they do different sizes
HAs anyone heard any more news from Ollie regarding delivery of the catch tanks?
As he stated on here they are in the uk he will be picking them up this weekend and sending them out next week!
Forge have the blanking plugs too: http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=0016&product=FMTB052K
At £6.00 each (or there abouts), I'm not too sure I want to spend £12 on shiny blanking plugs, surely there must be a more cheaper alternative available?
BTW, for those that are removing all the pipework under the inlet manifold, the L-shaped pipe that comes out of the top of the oil filter housing that the hose for the catch can will attach too is not cheap, I picked one up just incase it breaks when I do the job from TPS at a cost of £18!
Not cheap for what it is, thankfuly TPS will accept a return and credit me if I don't need it. There's also green O-ring in the housing that I ordered just in case I lose that.... just a heads up for all here who will be fitting their cans soon.
got a part number for that L pipe?
Breather Tube - 06A 103 213 F. RRP £19.93 plus FAT (TPS: 17.34 plus FAT)
O-Ring - N90467301 - RRP £3.21 plus FAT (TPS: £2.00 plus FAT.)
i dont know why you bother with TPS, most people who use them dont get trade like they think they are getting, stoke Audi on here are the best ive found by far
True, TPS discounts aren't brilliant on everything but they do give some discount (as opposed to our local dealership who decided not to give any discount after a change of management).
Stoke Audi are I'm told very good but too far away for me to be a viable option when you take delivery charges into account, besides, there's nothing like making a quick call and having your parts delivered on mostly the same day if not the next. They have never made a handling charge for any items returned when collecting (unlike our local dealership), their staff are extremely friendly (and quite knowledgeable) and so are the lesser of two evils IMO.
fair enough mate, delivery charge is an issue and we'll all have different probs with it - anyway, whos excited about fitting a chuffing catch can...i know i am
i need to get a life haha
Gonna be interesting where u guys physically mount the can as we dont have the same plastic piece as depicted in the diy. the only other place i could think of was on the side battery box but then it might get too close to the motor and the outlets are pointing the wrong way.
looking forward to some install pics
I had a look a few days ago when I was thinking about the same thing. I'm thinking of either using an L-shaped bracket from the battery box so that the orientation of the can is correct as fitted in the link posted previously or there is (maybe) another option.
If you look under the slam panel (just above the radiator fan), you will see a long and flat plastic strip moulded to the panel, similar to ones used as air intakes except this has no cut-out. It measures about 1" x 5" and maybe it can be adapted to attach a spacer bracket for the catch can bracket to attach too (does that even make sense?).
I haven't got any pics of this bit but if you have a look you will see what I mean. The can needs to be spaced away from the slam panel so the the fan /fan mounts don't catch the catch can (ok, even more confusing, I'll stop right here)
All this is relevant to the A3 (S3's have their throttle body on this side so I'm doubtful if this will work)
Alright folks, sorry for the delay, I've been really busy with work . I've got all the cans now and started to box them up last night, but still have a few to do. I should be able to post them out tomorrow morning. Just to add, they look good
Thats where ive fixed mine, works a treat
all depends on if its A3 or S3....on the A3 im gonna try and mount on the rear bulkhead so its at the highest point, this way less oil should theoretically seep through
