Oh No water pumps going

last week i saw some redish drop of water, on my garage floor has been confirmed today when my local garage told me during my service that my water pump is on its way out at only 54k miles!!!!

so im looking for an audi specialist in the west london/middlesex area.

things i need to change.

1. Water pump
2. Timing Belt
3. tensioner?
4. pulley?

anything else you guys can advise i should get changed?
also worth adding im going away on 12th May 2007 and need this done ASAP.

Thermostat. It lives in the water pump housing and only costs a tenner.

When I had mine done recently I also had the camshaft adjuster seals changed. Although you probably shouldn't need to at 54K it might be worth asking the condition of them to be checked. If they need replacing it should only take about 25-30 mins and about 35 or 40 quid for the seals.

I would just do the aux at the same time when the front of the car is off mate.

fontain.co.uk were/are recommended. i tried but failed to use their service due to their poor communication. ended up getting a local independant to undercut their price by quite a bit.

where did you go?

are there different types of waterpumps for the V6?

I got all that for my car at West London Audi (excluding thermostat) for £175 and you get £25 back when you take your old water pump back to them.

Not sure why you would want a metal impeller in water though...Audi's is plastic!

Errrm the plastic Audi one disintegrates, that's why you should only fit the metal one. Metal in water? Isn't the radiator made of metal?

where did you get yours done?

The workshop manager at my work did it for me. I was getting quotes for between £250 and £300 so ended up paying him £250 which I was happy with. Some people have got cheaper quotes though.

Ras - I got a water pump from http://www.vwspares.co.uk/ and it had a metal impellar. Cost about 40 quid if iirc.
