So russ' is performing way beyond what the comp map dictates using garretts 10hp/lb airflow?
who has the 7 + 7 2283 wheel? Gazz's?
Gaz does, I think irish dave does too but don't quote me. .
Yeah I do also, but am having a load of issues with the car at the moment. Until I get these sorted I wont know how well it works on my set up. Although instead of water/meth inj I will be running a 10% meth to petrol mix.
All k04 hybrids since earlier on this year have had the 7+7.. I don't like the 6+6 version as in the k04 it surges..
Any idea what turbine wheel we settled on for my hybrid. Was it the tfsi or rs6
well yes and the 2283 which is a 35lb wheel makes near 400bhp in a Tfsi and easily over 370bhp.. The ttrs wheel is rated at 41lbs but has seen 470.. So I think it's not quite true to say lb*10=bhp as we adding performance with wmi which obviously BW never accounted for.
When did you buy it?
I take it if mine has 7 'dual blades' thats a 7+7?
Yes.. it's the same physical size as the original 2283 just the extra set of blades.
Bought in July.
Compressor flow.... if maf's reading accurately, and I have a question on that as it read very different numbers for same boost between runs (ecp maf!) so I dont know what to believe..
either its 243g/s and wmi ign making the rest of the power... or its 262g/s I also logged + wmi contribution Both peaks at 1.4-1.45bar >6krpm
I think on extreme setups pushing boundaries and using chemical cooling and timing airflow goes out the window.
Either way, its awesome.
I thought it was cool that its running at way beyond the compressor map in terms of power.
maf's aside.... they usually under read on expected divide 0.8 g/s guide when making these "high" power figures, and its wmi contribution.
often seen high g/s on cars without power to go with it...
hybrids Need wmi to achieve the claimed numbers (or exceed them) in my experience.
devils own basic wmi kit.. + solenoid upgrade ftw
^ definitely not an aem progressive kit my controller died as soon as we needed it to work rip it out and add in some devil's own bits and back on track!
The maf was weird sometimes it correlated 100% correctly and others it was as out of sync as my singing
That's why I've asked our dearest bill to pop WMI on my car when it's in and Dan I've got the 550's.. Should be enough on this setup?
Very sensible with the wmi! My kit was a used one I picked up for about 50p with 20ltrs of meth, turns out the controller didn't work you'll be fine though especially with a devil's own kit. 550's should be enough. my 550's were acting strangely, say they were maxed out at 340 when they should be good for a fair bit more. I don't think they are fake but they're not quite correct lol
Were they new? Just had a gearbox rebuilt for me! Getting along now after abit of bad news!
Any idea at the moment Dan how much this entry level hybrid will be and if it will be available as an off the shelf complete unit.
I do, but I'm not allowed to advertise which I would be doing if I was to tell you that.
Would you be able to pm me a price please. Im still so undecided on what route to take and the more i look into it the more confused i get, is a manifold crucial to this. I decided to leave my standard on due to poor manifold options. And just had the engine rebuilt etc. Thanks. Daz
Yes a manifold would be crucial. Unfortunately we are all waiting for a reliable aftermarket manifold that works.
Bill are they as big of a job to fit as a relentless? Head off etc as ive literally just got mine back rebuilt. Thanks
I'll pm you instead, the mean buggers, you've earned a free advertising pass in my eyes for services to Turbo's.
Nice bill and yes Karl my turbo has the 7+7 blade in it mate and my final numbers where 349bhp & 315fltb
wonder if my number will change with this nice piece of kit hehe
B5 and Frankenturbo using jbs china-folds, must be good.
they fit like OE ones do. turbo to manifold bolts from the top with real spanners and sockets!! lol
still an awkward job on a quattro k04 car tho.. turbo hides some of the mani to head bolts.
its not difficult to fit compared to "others"...
From the pics I believe it's fairly heavily reworked around the collector and head flange, but from what I've understood, the quality of the casting and material is outstanding.
Really looking forward to the results from these Bill, hopefully it'll be the key ingredient everybody has been looking for!
Have they got over leaving sand stuck inside the runner walls....
Also how will these compare in regard to flow to "other" manifolds on the market.
Getting tested over Xmas dude. .
Santas testing it on his sleigh...
there is only one other.... lets face it..
we know what it is... its shiney and tubular
On 'others' testing (+year ago) this style of manifold is supporting good hybrid power.
I dont rely on 'others' testing although I have their data and logs as we have been sharing info for many many months now, and it correlates. I do want to do my own, test car testing, which is planned for Xmas period..
I know it works.. but I want to provide my own test data on a known car (our lupo)
