Drill and tap the manifold and housing for M10 studs
Yes that is the Plan. Already have the studs. Just need to tap it and and open up the turbine housing flange holes.
Only have a hand drill though... not sure if that'll be straight enough ...

No you'll have to use a pillar drill.Yes that is the Plan. Already have the studs. Just need to tap it and and open up the turbine housing flange holes.

Cool so I just found out you can get "bottom" style taps that should give me an extra thread or two to help the stud go a little more. The one I used was tapered a lot.

How did you cut the bolt down? Angle grinder time. Haha
What thickness of wire did you use to run from map sensor to the clocks? Is 1mm thick enough
I love reading your thread for inspiration but getting yourself a daily car of one of the most unreliable melts on the used car market is a step too far. you will mod this up too, you might not think you will - but now you can start playing with Maps on a car you have no attachment to.
I mean you will map it yourself - its the only thing you have not got into yet. (or I might have missed something in your thread )
Great daily, lol you never can't go wrong with a S3 8L
I've got my second few weeks back for under a thousand £ and it's facelift and it's pretty clean too.
But realised that i can't afford two sporty vehicles at age of 21 - I wish i could fill my driveway & garage with them
gearbox swap (no 1 & 2)
Nah seriously. This was purchased at the most ridiculous price I couldn't say no
I think i need to move to australia
LOL - i actually got pretty lucky with this purchase... usually S3's can range from $6000 to - 10,000 AUD.
I only got this because I now feel that i know the platform enough to be able to do all necessary repairs within a relatively short turnover and that i really can now not stress so much about rushing the Noggie - i want that one of be prepped and built properly.
It'll give me peace of mind being able to go over everthing 3 times over before starting up
ok so the prices are similiar to SA. You can pick them up for R45k to 85-90K here in SA which is more or less in line with the aus prices since 1 Aud = R10. Issue is 90% of the cars here are neglected, most of the guys dont change the haldex oil etc, so you have 15-17 year old cars driving around with differential oil that has never been changed.
One of each colour!!!
I'm getting there with this one - just have to do the driveshafts (3 split boots) and gearbox swap (no 1 & 2) then she'll be ready for a roadworthy (what you guys call MOT). The headlights were foggy as hell but they were smooth to touch... so i thought "let's get the plastic polish on them to see how it goes". They've gone from not roadworthy to nice and clear in 5 minutes! Last owner must have done the sanding but left it at that. LOL
One S3 as a project and another as a "daily" don't work, i've probably owned my daily car for about a month now and i've already ploughed £600+ just on maintainance parts and there's probably another £300+ more to go! Talking of cheap S3's, we get bargains here too... I've paid £450 for my complete S3 with a blown headgasket, just gotta be lucky
You don't need all that Ian !
Box it up and I'll come and take it off your hands
Going to Bali in June so you'll be closer than ever
