i can hear the cam gear "i think" spiining over in the engine
i does not sound like niosy lifters, more of a rotational noise from the top end "it sounds like to end"

not owning a v6 before, or a audi v6 before, is this normal?
i can hear the injectors, and all the randm noise from the inlet,

but i dont know if the rotational noise is normal, it does it hot or cold

could be worn cam chain damper or tensioners, i've just had this done on my v6 - its expensive!

Don't know if teh V6 is similar to the 1.8 but I had a whiney noise that was really annoying and it turned out to be the aux belt tensioner

yeah tensioner sounds more likely, the noise on my 1.8t was this, at 1200rpm it made a horrible rattly noise until it passed 1500 then went & came back everytime you went past 1200-1500, but this was partly to do with the cambelt change so they screwed it up not a fault as such.
