just to add to the slightly more helpful picture above, what you also get along with the deeper tray under the heater controls as shown, is a spring loaded flap over the 12v socket instead of a lighter plugged into it.

Thanks Beanoir , would i be right in saying that if you opt for the ashtray it is silver with a sprungloaded lid ? Can the sprung loaded flap be retro fitted to the 12v / lighter socket if you opt for the SMOKING option ? Cheers .

I'm not sure, on the A5 it was a nice sliding mechanism, but I opted for the non-smoking pack on the S3 I couldn't be sure. I'll have a look at the 12v socket, but I reckon it probably could be retrofitted to be honest, it's not terribly complicated.

Taken from my car . i did the ashtray delete retrofit some days ago, believe me the ashtray is nothing but trouble. At least for me.
    Got loads of space now!

Correct. Personally I prefer they way the ashtray looks as it finishes of the trim around they gearstick nicely.

I was thinking the same , anyone got a pic of the ashtray please . I suppose it is only big enough for a bit of loose change - or a few fag ends of course . Cheers .
