Nah, the second one is just very washed out colour wise, it is Noggy. The first one is quite dark and the same colour looks a lot deeper blue.

The first one was taken on a bright sunny day and the second on a dull day which makes the effect more pronounced.

Everyone knows blue is slow, remember when Pepsi painted a concorde with its colours and then it wouldn't go past the sound barrier?

went to look at a black one, didnt have the ally mirrors and i thot it idnt stand out enough from an a3. Saw a yellow s3 the other day an it looked great, but i think the colour is just a bit too loud for me

Denim blue is nice but i still think noggy wins.

Now iv just gotta find one!

I would actually put money on it that you are wrong.

Also, I didn't say Denim was pearlescent, I asked if it was metallic.

Pearlescence is an effect produced by blending different shades/colours of metallic paint. Actually I think its a pearl tint added to the lacquer but someone more knowledgeable on painting could confirm this.

How you can say that this :-

The lighting conditions, ie flash type, or lense filters can massively alter the look of paint finish.

    So you're probably both wrong......:moa:

Whatever, besides the fact that the OWNER OF THE CAR says its Nogaro blue and everyone else agrees it's Nogaro...

Denim is a metallic paint, Nogaro is a flat colour and that second car is a 1000% a flat colour and NOT metallic therefore my dear Watson, I deduce that as Nogaro is the only flat blue available on S3's (Ming blue is metallic) that it must be Nogaro blue.

It is purely and simply down to the light conditions at the time and the contrast in the quality of the cameras.

kingfisher was a lighter blue, but was horrible, and would have been a special order color. I cant see anyone paying £2000 more for spec'ing it with kingfisher...

    Oh dear...
    Nogaro isn't flat...it's pearl effect!

But, your point is valid...it doesn't look metallic.
In dull light it looks flat...under bright light the pearl effect takes over and it changes colour..but although the base coat IS actually metallic, it has a very fine metal flake size and thus looks flat in poor light.

The metallics - like Denim - have a heavier metal-flake in them and they lok much more metallic looking.

I didn't pay all that extra for flat paint!!
    It's deffo pearl effect.

Thanks for the correction Glen, I actually just realised that after reading the 225ps specs where it states 'Nogaro Blue (Pearl)'. Didnt know it had a metallic base coat though, thought it was a pearl lacquer like VW Jazz blue...

As of june 2002 for £2500 you could have had any audi range colour of your choice put onto the car, regardless of model.
