    Firstly apoligies to staz!!! :respekt:

ill try to explain the problem better

my air con doesnt work, i took the car to an air con specialist to have it re gassed.

he put a gauge on one of the pipes which read danger too much pressure (i think)

he let some pressure go but it kept increasing on its own going back into the danger area on his gauge

i was told the fault lay with the fact the air con compressor is stuck on all the time causing the pressure increase

i dont have a econ button on my climate control

the result of above was i got told the increasing pressure was shutting the aircon down

does any of this sound right or make sence to anyone

hmm sounds an odd one, the compressor runs most of the time anyway AFAIK, shutting off only under high acceleration or when you switch it off with the Econ/snowflake button.

It's more likely you have the same problem i had, and that one of your pipes ( probably Orocfice tube) is blocked. That will cause high pressure as the poor compressor will be running like mad to try to pump coolant around the system whilst physicly being unable to do it.

Your high pressure fault may be with the condenser cooling fans.
If there is not enough air flow through the front rads the system pressure will build, normally the fans will kick in and cool the condenser and reduce the system pressure.

You should also check the amount of gas in the system, too much may cause problems.

You should get a second opinion.

    Hope this helps.....

hi thanks for advice your the second person to mention fans to me my s4 has 3 fans two engine side of rads and one bumper side.

the bigger of the two (viscus one runs ok)

the one on the bumper side attached to the condensor kicks in when the aircon gets switched

the smaller one engine side doesnt do anything but ive seen it try to turn and stop is this the likely culprite

I agree with your suspicions on the fan. Any access to VCDS?
