Have been lurking for a few months and decided to register properly recently.
I'm usually on the VW forums as I've had lots of Mk2 and Mk3 Golfs in past so I'm actually new to Audi's.
I bought a 1997 Audi Avant 1.8 SE in December (felt very very slow after coming from a VR6) and it is a solid motor and well built even for a 14 year old car. Actually better inside than similar age VW's if I'm honest.
Unfortunately it was written off a few weeks ago which is a shame because the damage was not too bad, but the insurers considered it un-economical to repair due to age and value.
This is what happens when a Mercedes ML pulls out of a side road across your path......
Good news is I managed to pick up a 1.9tdi 2001 Avant (B5 shape again) last week for a very good price. Only a Couple of owners and 114,000 miles with a 5 speed Auto box. Got to say it feels ****** quick for an apparent 115BHP.
Pics to follow shortly and I'll be posting some questions about re-mapping for the future and the aircon because it's not blowing cold.
