Newbie question (sorry!)

Guys, wanting to chip my 1.8T and want to find the ECU number and the ECU itself for that matter, where is it?

Probably a stupid question but it's dark and I can't find an answer via a search of the site.

the ECU is located at the top left corner of the engine bay inside a black plastic housing ( as you stand at the front of the car) . If you have a later car, you will need to remove the battery/servo cover/ leaf catcher trim to gain access to it.
