Just bought an X reg A3 1.8T Sport 5dr for a grand. Pretty pleased with it. Been a member on other forums from previous cars, so don't worry about me searching

My Dad had a Golf GTi 1.8T in '98 and I loved it. Those Recaros were fantastic and now I've finally got one(ish). Kind of an emotional purchase really as he passed away a few years ago. I'm 29, live in South Shields near Newcastle and run my own SEO business so I only use the car for fun and a couple of motorway journeys to Scotland/London.
The car is pretty good (pic attached), 115k, couple of rust spots on the rear door and lacquer flaking off 3 of the wheels, a squeak from the starter for a second on start-up, but pulls strongly, no smoke or odd noises. Sucks into the road like a limpet.
Famous last words: I'm not looking at modding it just yet - I mean engine not Halfords boydwork stuff that's not my bag - I'll get it through the MOT in March and think about it then but in the meantime I'll be reading and learning here; most likely making a 'to-buy' list.
