Hey guys
Just joined but have been a long time lurker:ermm:
I drive a totally standard 1.8t with 130,000 on the clock and have never had any probs until now.
I've just been towed home after an apparent cv joint failure, the car did start making a clunking noise today from the passenger side which is the one the recovery driver said it was.But now it also seems that its going into gear without the use of clutch and there's some bad grinding noises when it does so.

Any ideas whats going on?
Is this consistent with the cv failure or am i looking at something bigger?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as i dont fancy a new clutch/gearbox or both:sadlike:

your cv joint being fcuked means you have no drive. if its notchy when you put it in gear the car is trying to drive but it cant cause the drive shaft is spinning in the cv joint. if its going into gear without any bother or noise then you have big problems mate..

Cheers for the replies guys.
Still a wee bit confused though!Does this mean a new cv joint should sort it then?
