Hi,

I'm looking for a quick estate car. Have found a nice looking S4, 1999 about 90k on the clock.

I have read the buyers guide and things, but wondered if there were any other things I should check for tomorrow that you would recommend.

One other thing, what average MPG would I expect from the S4?

Thanks,

Dan

Should also say, it is standard, full Audi service history, cam belt, water pump, tensioners and brakes done at 85k.

do you have vag.com?

if so check for boost leaks - block 032 in the engine section

otherwise take someone who knows these cars

think about an inspection and a s vag.com scan - can be done by an audi dealer - varies from free for a vehicle check to 50 ish pounds for a scan...

where are you based ?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I'm based near Southampton. My dad did have a Sykes Pickavant (sp!) reader, will this give me all the information I need?

not too sure about that, maybe if it was an Audi compatible one.

do you have a friendly mechanic or audi specialist you could pay to do an inspection?

you might want to have a read at

http://rs246.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=PNphpBB2&file=index

which is more geared towards the rs and s cars, there are a few people from Southampton as well on there so you may fine a willing knowledgeable member who may go to a viewing with you...

I get around 230 miles to a tank, but i'm running aound 400bhp at the moment.

Even when it was standard, think I was getting around 250 miles to a tank, mostly 'urban' driving.

And check out www.audisrs.com for more specific info on the S4. There was a lot of dummys thrown out of a lot of prams a while back and RS246 isn't what it used to be for the S4.
