Hey Audi-sport.net people, Will down-under from Kirra, Queensland. Just introducing myself. Last weekend I bought my first Audi. A 1999 A3 1.8T 2wd (8L mk1 i believe). Found it in Melbourne, Victoria at a reasonable price so I flew down and drove it 1700km's home to Queensland. No plates or registration. But a VicRoads permit to travel straight home. 3 fill ups @$80 and a sleep in the back 3/4's of the way home. Best drive I've had in ages. The car, while not too shabby considering it's 1999, drove really really well. Pretty good handling and smooth turbo power. Feels crisp and tight still. Doubt the turbo ever saw much spool action until now. Leather and sunroof, a/c works - important over here @40 degrees celcius on some summer days. It's does have the Audi roof channel rust bubbling and a little scratch by the filler flap so I'll have to get that sorted. Oh and the ash tray is missing.. Anyway.. Great to be driving a turbo car again...and we all know what that leads too - mods! Regards Willie.
