I know there's ALOT of 'suspension' and 'lowering' posts on here so sorry to add to these! I've been searching through alot of posts but being such a novice it would be really helpful if anyone could give me a quick bit of advice to clear something up....

I have a 53 reg 2.0TDI SE with standard wheels and suspension. I've been looking at Wheelbase and am thinking of getting a set of 18" RS6's (older style) ... I'm pretty sure being a SE it's going to sit quite high on these (?). If I want to lower say 35-40mm am I better off just buying new springs or gettings a Springs & Shocks set such as:

Weitec 40mm Ultra GT Lowering Springs & Shocks Suspension Kit A3 8L 1.6, 1.8, 1.8T FWD 09/96> - £373.90 : The premiere online mail order VAG suspension and performance specialists. We offer a wide range of all the best branded suspension and performa

Am I right that my exisiting shocks would be OK with new springs but after a while may die!??

Advice muchly appreciated!!

don't know about the SE shocks mate, the s-line ones are good for about 50mm so if the two use the same shocks then there you go
