After a lot of digging around on the internet and speaking to various people, this could be the way forward with replacing the slightly mangled VF34.20 currently fitted to the black car. A TD05 18g with a 3inch inlet, 8cm housing and a small modification to the transfer box?

Answers on the proverbial post card please......:)

Yes Karl it has. I spoke to a couple of people that Bill put me in touch with and after a bit more question asking seem to have come up with a strong, reliable altenative to the chocolate VF34. It also comes in at around the £850 mark :)
 
No, you can buy it off the shelf and it fits straight on (with a 7 inch housing)
