New to the car scene have some questions.

ok my father has a 2003 passat with the 3.0? v6. i personally am i truck person i own a built ranger. so i have little knowledge of the passat. i was wondering what are some ways to get more power from the low end of the engine. It seems quite sluggish when starting off. The simpler the better i dont want to have to tear the engine apart and do cams or that sort of things.
