To aid me with one project and stop an oil leak I'm going to replace my sump for a facelift unit with oil sensor hole, while it is off I'm thinking it would be good to replace the pick up pipe.
I understand its a sub frame drop, with all this off, is there any thing else that's worth looking to replacing?

On the list I'm thinking of sump bolts, sump gasket, cam cover gasket, cam cover bolts.

If its the same as the 1.8T, you cant buy the pickup on its own, only the whole oil pump.

    Not a clue.
Not even sure what's needed to replace the pump.
One of the reasons for this post.

    Does anyone know?

Im not sure what engine you have in your one but when i dropped the sump on my 1.8T I replaced the following..

    Engine oil
    Coolant
    Sump Plug
    Oil Pump (complete)
    Sump sealer
    Oil Filter

As mentioned you might not need all this if you have a different engine.

oo yeah, I forget some of the newer members don't know my car lol.

    Its a 1.9TDI AFN engine.

I'm planning on doing it in time for the next oil service. hopefully the weather will be better and it will give me time to get the parts up together.

    Will the coolant be touched?

Does anybody bother replacing bolts when taking the sump out?

don't think the coolant will be touched.
can't see why you can reuse the sump bolts, maybe use some threadlock though.
would it be easier to lift the engine a bit to get the sump off, rather than drop the subframe?

    Not a clue mate.
This is going into realms i've not touched or seen.
I've got help so its ok.

I don't mind reusing bolts/nuts but it just seems right to use new bits lol

might be able to lift the engine but it would be easier to do it with out the sub frame, give your self some room.

I got a magnetic sump plug with a bulk load of washers, I just use that all the time and keep an eye on the metal build up.
Been very little at the moment. :)

Where are you sourcing the sump Scott?
I need to replace mine as its been cracked since I bought the car nearly 3 years ago.
Wanted to get a genuine one - but the 240€ price scared me

    Audi depending on price.
I did get a quote for one before, I cant remember the exact number but I don't think it was that much or any where near.
I'll let you know the price when I get a quote.

    cheers,
you say you were planning to change for a facelift version with hole for sensor?
mine is a 1.9tdi afn facelift - no oil sensor though.
even when it has ran low in the past, there is no warning light for low oil!!!

Full digital clocks have the oil sensor.
That as well as oil leaks are kind of making me do this.
I need to get my rev counter working then its 100% FL clocks in a PFL car.
    I hope. lol
