After plenty of asking around I decided to go for the Spec stage 3 clutch and single mass flywheel which I purchased from Backdraft Motorsport.

I'm lucky enough to work in the trade so I manged to get the package for a decent price and my cousin is a gearbox specialist so the fitting was at a knock down price also.

While the box was off he noticed some play in the input shaft and it had leaked the smallest amount of oil. He said that it could get worse and if it does it will ****** my clutch up too. We spoke to Audi and they told us to take the box down and get them to have a look at it, but seeing as though its christmas and my car was in bits we decided to just chance it and put it back together.

Because I work in the car trade I know that most dealers are hopeless at gearbox rebuilds and they normally just replace whole units and according to my cousin it would need re shimming and he said he wouldn't trust them to do it properly anyway, plus theres that little play in it that he said they probably just say that it meant to be like that and they would probably say my engine mods have caused it (which is a load of rubbish)

Anyway when I first drove it after I was quite surprised. The pedal is heavier and its either on or off but it isn't as bad as I thought it would be, its slightly noisier and the gears are a little stiffer but it seems to get better and better.

Has anyone else on here had this same set up and if so what are your views on it.

Why did you get the Spec stage 3 + clutch as it holds a lot more torque and is a much better road clutch as it gives smooth engagement.

What I have is rated over what the cars putting out so decided to go with what Backdraft have fitted before to other S3's, so I know that the kit has been used before.

I am going to install a Spec 3+ on my S3. Have you had any issues with Spec in your car? Thanks!
