New S3 2013

Rules doesn't it!! That would be the one for me!

Like I said, the saloon is the one....it just looks fantastic....really balanced which the 3 and 5 door really aren't to my eyes.

I just pray to God that they bring it to the UK and it has a manual gearbox, because that would be the ideal car for me....beautiful !!!

Not sure if I am a fan of those looks. Also not sure if the quad exhaust is all that necessary - surely one each side would have sufficed?

sounds a hell of a lot better though :)

They seem to be getting further and further from that original mini-saloon 'notchback' concept. When that first showed up I wanted it immediately, now I'm just waiting to be disappointed by what the production version ends up like.

That RS3 render looks pretty fantastci though, much better than the current effort (which is slowly growing on me, but just isn't very RS-ish).

Years ago I had a Mk2 Jetta GTi 16V. I'd had Golf GTi's before and always assumed the handling was fairly good on the Golf. When you don't have a massive gaping hatch making up a vast proportion of the body shell, and there is a bit of boot overhang over the rear wheels it's amazing how well it neutralises / balances the handling out. Badger Bill and I were talking about the Jetta 2 being a hidden gem a few months back, and I'd hope for more of the same if they made this saloon. I'm sure it will end up being car porn, but if they were to make it I'd be signing up; no question. If not then it's S5 next.

Couldn't agree more.....hatchbacks are practical, but with a big hole at the back you get more noise and more chassis flex than a saloon with the natural bracing at the bottom of the rear screen. When I had my S4 saloon, everyone told me I should have got the Avant as it would be more popular at resale time, to which my response was:

1. I don't buy my cars for someone else, so if I prefer the saloon, then that's what I'll buy...too many people buy their car with an eye on what the second owner would want, and then drive it for many years without everything THEY want just in order to make it more attractive at resale....It's your car so spec' it the way you want it I say !!

2. The saloon was quieter (without the big hole at the back creating a sound box ), and handled beautifully due to the stiffer bodyshell... My mate had the Avant and it was nothing like as solid, was noisier and gave very mixed feedback when pushing on.

If Audi go ahead and make the saloon ( with manual gearbox ), then I really think it would be a massive seller ( I would move heaven and earth to buy one, and that hasn't been the case for many cars )....it just looks RIGHT, which many cars these days don't, and often if it looks right, then it feels right as well.

300bhp = win
Exterior Styling = fail (quad exhausts apart it looks like a standard A3)
Interior Styling = win (seats are cool, built in boost gauge is very cool)

Lovely!!
But i think it will probably out of my reach.

Hmmm can't decide until I see it in more colours. I don't really like red in hatchbacks and definitely don't like the silver window trim with a red body! Erggh!

One thing I really dislike is the new e-brake handbrake replacements....... Boo!! That's no fun for a bit of fun in the snow in an empty car park......

Holy thread revival! :)

'Interesting' comments in this thread ;)

I wish the 19's in the above pic were an option. Looks stunning IMHO

What's that then

Which bit? :uhm:

The holy thread revival bit (sarcasm ;))or the 'interesting' (for that read - surprising initial negativity to the new S3) comments bit?

Just my observations :thumbs up:

As always, just my opinion of course ... :undwech:

Those are the second best wheels audi have ever made, just behind the RS4's.
