New to the forum and only had my B5 S4 since last October, never owned a VAG before as I have mostly had Jap cars and the od Rover. Got the cambelt to do over the next few weeks, looks like it will take a few days which is pretty standard fare for a V6 so we will see. I have all the parts plus the cam lock tool.

Also have the air bag light on and an od problem with the brakes, a slight knocking under medium braking but not under light or heavy braking. Sounds like a worn bush but goes away when I pull the ABS fuse so is certainly the brakes. No dash lights though (except when the fuse is out) so I think diagnosis might be a bit tricky if the associated computer is unaware of a problem.

Going to keep this S4 for a few years to come as I love it but the MPG is pretty bad and the V6 looks hard to work on, I am contemplating swaping in a 1.8T as they look eminently tunable and go for pennies. I have read lot about fitting big brakes and a 6 speed to 1.8T's and T Quattros so this is just a slightly different approach, starting with all S4 spec brakes, transmission and suspension. Its pie in the sky though for the time being hence doing the cambelt for hopefully another few years of happy motoring but if a turbo or the clutch lets go it will get another look.
