New Head Gasket on S3, car not 3 years old yet

Good Afternoon

I have been losing coolant for a few weeks, had the car in at Audi who diagnosed leaking water pump. Just had a call from Audi saying that they miss diagnosed and it's the head gasket that needs replacing.

All work is covered under warranty as the car is 3 years old in July, my main concern is that the gasket has gone on such a young car. My initial feeling is to get the work done then get rid of the car.

Has anyone else had this happen with a car still in warranty?

Do Audi give a 12 month warranty on the repair?

I see no reason to sell it afterwards, should be fine as its not a well known issue on the newer 8P's, I wouldn't worry unless you want to sell it.

I went to see the Audi Tech at the weekend, the head gasket just has a small leak it hasn't blown like I thought. The tech guy said they will test the head as well, he also said that they have had the same problem on another S3 recently.
