I have just taken delivery of my new A3, however changing from an R32 i find that the gear knob is quite big and the stick itself quite long. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Can anyone tell me whether the gear knob out of a golf r32 would fit the A3, If so it should reduce the length and hopefully increase the feel.

    cheers, jasew /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Audi do a carbon fibre replacement gear knob which is much nicer, similar design but it is quite expensive. Momo do some VAG specific gear knobs you could try one of those. As for the R32 knob I guess it will fit as it is a VAG item. The leather gaiter will need to be adapted for the Momo, don't know if the R32 gaiter will fit as standard.

As for the height, the gear knob is held on with a circular clip which is squashed in place, you might be able to loosen the clip and drop the gear knob a little more. Otherwise you'll need a hacksaw.
