I have a 56 plate 1.9tdi and was wondering how hard it would be to swap the engine for the 2.0tdi.

Is it just a straight swap or will I need to change everything else?

    Fair enough.

Anything I can do to get a bit more power besides a remap? Turbo changes etc.

hybrid turbo, turbo back exhaust, intercooler etc theres loads, but if the engines not the right size for you i suggest you start saving for another motor and mods to it :)

I want to keep it as its spotless and want to work on modding it.

Can you give any info on what I can do? (Names and details of turbos etc.)

    :)

Mate your honestly better on getting a 2.0 tdi 140 or 170 and modding that! the 1.9 105BHP model has lousy components and its a very loud engine. you will literally be spending more than its worth on getting that up to the 140s spec.
you need to remember that uprating the power will also demand uprating the brakes for stopping power, not to mention the fuel delivery issues you will encounter.

a hybrid turbo will cost you around £700+, Full turbo sports cat exhaust around £1200 and a decent remap to get the proper gains will set you back £300-£500...

Better start saving..... 2.0tdi it is, may as well go for the 170. What could I get out of one with turbo, exhaust & remap mods?

    I'm sure you'd easily see 200bhp.

you may run into an issue with the 170 regarding the DPF, there is a way around it by gutting out the canister and putting it back into place so visually it looks like it is there but really there is nothing inside it to fool the MOT inspectors.

the 170 with a hybrid turbo and remap will take you up to something in the region of 250bhp ish

the 140 with the hybrid and remap will take you up near 220...
a 170 with just a remap and dpf delete can do 210

Just make sure you boot it properly on the way to the MOT centre so that most of it goes :moa:
