Same as Steve at Statller in sheffields i think apart from his in bits until he goes daft with the engine, worth having a word with them for servicing, tuning, parts, major work mate depending if anyone else near you but i know he is very cheap labour etc compared with a lot of porsche specialists plus they have had various ones in there family since the invention of fire

Looks very good in that blue! and extra clean! I still havent washed my 911 yet as still to busy playing every time I get home.
Your mpg sounds good as I only get about 25mpg most trips out,but thats not bad for the smile it puts on my face!

If you need a Porsche forum checkout 911uk.com - Porsche 911 For Sale, Finance, Insurance, Parts & Service : Index there very informative but not as well put together as this site in my view.

    Enjoy.

thanks for the comments, wasn't sure about the colour to start with, but turns out to be Midnight Blue Metallic rather than the Lapis Blue as it was advertised, comparing the 2 I think Midnight wins it anyway.

Still reckon the 996 front end/lights look better than the `ordinary` 997. In fact IMO the 997 wasnt really progress visually.

997 was not a great progression visually but mechanically it is a far more reliable proposition than the 996 which is notorious for engine problems.

The 996 has not gained the best reputation for reliability, but the 996TT engine is not related to the non-blown version of the 996 at all, they are 2 totally different types of engine. The 996TT is related to the GT3 and the racing GT1. This gives me a bit more piece of mind and at 25K for a new engine, I reckon you need to be pretty sure of what you are buying and reliability for sure.

Who say's the car badge you wear reflects the person you are.....lets face it Audi or Porsche aint ever gonna smile at a skoda or fiat test drive, even when the V8's become standard issue......the same could be said for Audi vs Porsche as I met up with Willie today and I was confronted with a new breed of porsche enthusiast.........> he is basically a power hungry S (or probably RS) nut who craves the expensives of a much better looking chassis and engine to compliment - as if the S3 isn't good enough to challenge most fantasist 'colin mcrae' would be's in their prime and most probably now maturer years - a credible respected Willie pontipified every ambition of the stereotype porsche driver but glazed that "I drive this car because its a f**ckin beast and definitely not what you are thinking" type of guy - I know this because before I met him he was sitting at the same lights as me and as I gazed across to see if there was a glint for a bit of fun, he casually hit the electric power front window and resembled a scene from "Ace Ventura" - .......then as I started to hit 'Wile E. Coyote' speed I noticed a "mee mee" coming through on the sat nav and an avatar of willie in blue and yellow costume!!! Pure class.......

Seriously - met with Willie today and car looks absolutley awesome....even better when parked next to mine :)

The flared arches and exterior push the boundaries up close of any 9 series I've ever seen.... and the zorst, air vents and venomous front end say it all. I even got to sit in the beast - my first - but when your hear her stealth engine beat and petrol thursty boost you can only imagine the dream as she truly looks, sounds and flies magnificantly.

Today was a pleasure Willie.....I seriously thought about can-ning the wife and family on the way home.........but settled for a patio; critical insurance and a pre-order for 2013 :)

    catch up soon mate.....

    Cheers,
    E

Not quite true that is it? 997.1 use's the same 3.6 engine as the 996. Only the 997.2 uses the 3.8 which has the modded IMS bearing which resolves one of the two 3.6 engine faults but then Porsche replaced these under warranty anyway. Even the 993 has IMS problems!

Problem two is a cylinder problem where cylinder 5/6 can go oval which happend to late 3.4's and some early 3.6's. Again there are some good fixes if you are unlucky to come across this problem which is actualy very rare but has been banded about a lot on various forums and magazines. A few car owner's writing on every forum all of a sudden sound's like hundreds of cars? again Porsche replaced any engine which has failed during the warranty period.

The remainder is pretty much the same, brakes, suspension, 4 wheel drive, drive computers, satnav and so on.
Then again any car can pick up problems no matter who makes the components but we are all intitled to our own opinons, I happily own a 996 C4S and also have unlimited access to a 997.2 C4S but I still like the 996 as opposed to the 997 but that is just my view.

Mind I still think Willmac's Turbo is a good looking car, and as I said before a great colour! :racer:

    Enjoy mate
